Publish your first link

From a pasted streaming URL to a live, shareable page — the complete first run, including what the publish checklist will ask of you.

A DropRoute link starts from something you already have: the URL of a release on any streaming service, or nothing at all if you are building a bio page. This guide walks the whole path — paste, adjust, publish — and explains the checkpoints on the way.

  1. Paste a URL

In the dashboard, open Links and choose New link. Paste any supported streaming URL — a Spotify album, an Apple Music track, a YouTube video. DropRoute detects the service and the content type as you paste, and cleans the URL to its canonical form (share tokens and locale prefixes are stripped, so every campaign points at one address).

Sibling destinations are seeded automatically as empty rows: paste a Spotify album and you will see Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, and the rest waiting for their URLs. DropRoute never invents a URL — a destination without one shows as pending until you fill it or a catalog scan finds it.

  2. Check the basics

The editor opens on the Basics section: public title, artist name, the page address (its slug), artwork, and an optional schedule. The address mirrors the title until you edit it by hand — decide it now, because after publishing, changing the address breaks every share that already went out.

Upload artwork if you have it (square, up to 25 MB). Without an upload the page renders a generated typographic cover from your title — presentable, but your real artwork converts better.

  3. Fill the destinations

In the Destinations section, add URLs for the services you have, drag them into the order you want fans to see, and delete services you are not on. Each destination gets a call-to-action label — Listen, Buy, Watch — and can be limited to specific territories.

  4. Publish

Press Publish. The checklist runs first and blocks only on real problems: no active destination, a missing title, a reward block with no reward inside. Warnings — like a missing artwork alt text — let you proceed but tell you what a fan will experience.

Publishing writes an immutable revision snapshot before anything goes live, so there is always a version to roll back to. Your page is now serving at your workspace address and at its short link, which is the one to print.

  5. Share the right URL for each place

The page URL is for bios and posts; the short link (drp.cx/r/…) is for print, QR codes, and anywhere characters are expensive. For each promotion channel, create a campaign variant first — see the campaign guide — so next week you can tell which channel actually worked.

When it does not go to plan

The paste detected the wrong content type.
The type inference is editable — change it in the creation dialog before confirming. A ticket page pasted from a streaming URL can be re-typed without starting over.
Publish is blocked and the reason is unclear.
Every blocking item in the checklist names the section it lives in. The most common first-run block is having zero active destinations with a URL.
